My Bernina Stitch Regulator - BSR - December

Learn how to free motion quilt using your Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR).

A step above traditional free-motion stitching, the BSR removes the challenge of maintaining a consistent stitch length.  You will learn how to attach the foot, how to change the soles, the difference between BSR1 and BSR2 and will practice free motion quilting.

The kit includes 2 fat quarter sandwiches.

If you purchased your BSR from another store, there is a $75 class fee as well as the kit fee.

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details:
Requirements: Bring your machine and the BSR
Instructor: Jonna Smith
Instructor Bio: I watched my mother sew for as long as I can remember, but I credit my step-mom for teaching me. My step-mom (who doesn't sew) was the one who actually let me touch her sewing machine when I was 13. She taught me how to thread a machine and I was hooked! I started with a simple soft box, then went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought my first pattern. I2 did crafts and sewed my own clothes through high school. One day my mom came home with her aunt?s treadle machine and decided we should make my Grandma a quilt using the Treadle. I had lots of fun but really didn't know what I was doing until I moved to Germany where I joined my first quilt guild in Stuttgart, Germany: The Black Forest Quilt Guild. I discovered that yes, I was making all my quilts wrong (but they still looked great). I was using 5/8 seam allowance and ironing all my seams open. They filled a lot of my knowledge gaps and fixed most of my bad habits. Today I enjoy all parts of making a quilt, from picking out the perfect pattern, selecting the fabric, cutting and piecing the top, quilting the quilt, to sewing on the binding. I love to do traditional piecing, paper piecing, applique, and making my own patterns. In the last 8 years I have gotten into embroidery. In addition to pre-made patterns I enjoy digitizing, quilting in the hoop, and stitching out custom designs. If you have Bernina version 8 software or Designworks questions, I'm your girl. My first job in sewing was at Cross Patches in Collinsville, IL as a sales person, general service technician, and instructor. I was able to attend the Bernina Technical Training courses and became a certified Bernina Technician in August 2012. I moved to Chesapeake, VA in 2015 and have worked as a technician and instructor at Nancy?s Calico Patch, Blue Crab, and now Sunshine Quilt Corner.
